Eumens is a telepsychiatry practice offering mental health, psychiatry, and psychotherapy services for Children, Adolescents, Young Adults, and Adults in the comfort, convenience, and private settings of your choosing, in the state of California.

Philip Liu, MD
Dr. Liu is a double board-certified child/ adolescent and adult psychiatrist. He has been in practice through telemedicine, prior to COVID, in treating the underserved and rural communities. After attending medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Dr. Liu completed his psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. Dr. Liu further pursued in-depth psychodynamic psychotherapy training to complement the current understanding of the brain with the art of understanding our minds and being.
Treatment Approach and Philosophy
Dr. Liu practices up-to-date evidence-based medicine combined with in-depth psychodynamic psychotherapy to help create, deepen, and enliven meaningful understandings of ourselves as a whole and relational dynamics in their environments and contexts. By exploring and making meaning of our beings and lives, we empower ourselves to move past and integrate our ambivalences (that often frustrating inner back-and-forth we have with ourselves) and the seemingly paradoxical/contradictory.

To assist and nurture a visceral content and understanding that it is, and we are okay being the human beings that we are, even when we seemingly falter on the uncharted course of life. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Dr. Liu works with families, children, and adolescents on a wide range of issues, including ADHD, anxiety, anger, mood dysregulation, depression, trauma, peer conflicts, parent management, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, and psychosis/schizophrenia.

Young Adult/ Adult Psychiatry
Dr. Liu frequently works with young adults and adults with coming of age concerns, transition of life stressors, family stressors, school/occupational stressors, peer conflicts, cultural/ethnic issues, generational conflicts, and other ongoing psychiatric conditions.
*Please note: Dr. Liu does not have expertise in treating Eating Related Disorders or Substance Use Disorders.

Short and Long-term psychotherapy available. Employing versatile modalities of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), supportive, insight-oriented, interpersonal, and motivational interviewing.

Additional requested paperwork or phone calls outside of scheduled appointments, requiring more than 5 minutes, are charged $50 at 15-minute intervals.
